- Effective April
of 2007, Mr. Donahoe has been certified as a specialist in Estate
Planning and Administration by the Estate Planning and Administration
Specialty Certification Board of the Probate, Trust and Real
Property Section of the Indiana State Bar Association. Mr.
Donahoe is among the first class of attorneys in Indiana to qualify
for this certification.
- In April, 2007, Mr. Donahoe presented and
spoke to a National Business Institute seminar on the topic, “Required
Minimum Distributions from IRAs and Qualified Pension Plans.”
- In December, 2006, Mr. Donahoe presented and spoke to the
Indiana Tax Institute, sponsored by the Tax Section of the
Indiana State Bar Association and the Indiana CPA Society,
on the topic of “Using
Trusts with IRAs in Estate Planning.”
- Mr. Donahoe is serving
as the 2007 Chairman of the Board of Directors of The Humane
Society of Indianapolis, Inc.
- Mr. Gilday has been appointed by
the Board of Law Governors to serve on the first ever Audit Committee
of the Indiana State Bar Association.
- Mr. Donahoe has been elected Chairman of the Taxation Section
of the Indiana State Bar Association for 2006.
- Mr. Irvin and Mr. Donahoe successfully defended an appeal of
the dismissal of claims brought against a public charitable trust
in In re Pub. Benev. Trust of Crume, 829 N.E.2d 1039
(Ind. Ct. App. 2005), aff’d on reh’g, 834
N.E.2d 705 (Ind. Ct. App. 2005), trans. denied, (Ind.
Jan. 20, 2006). The decision of the Court of Appeals clarified
Indiana law regarding the standing of members of the general public
to maintain litigation against public charitable trusts, and also
addressed the applicability of the cy pres and equitable
deviation doctrines to such trusts.
- Mr. Gilday has been elected for a three-year term on the Board
of Directors by the members of the Lockerbie Glove Company Town
Home Owners Association, Inc., and to the office of Treasurer
by its Board of Directors.
- Mr. Donahoe has been elected Chair-Elect of the Board of the
Humane Society of Indianapolis, Inc. for 2006.
- Mr. Irvin has been re-elected as President and Chairman of the
Board of Directors of the Deerfield Civic League, Inc., of which
he is also the acting Treasurer, for 2005-2006.
- Mr. Gilday was recently elected Chairman of the Finance Committee
by the Parish Council of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church,
Indianapolis, Indiana.
- Mr. Donahoe was elected Chair of the Estate Planning Section
of the Indianapolis Bar Association, and appointed to the Planned
Giving Advisory Board of both the Indianapolis Zoo and Indianapolis-Marion
County Public Library Foundation, for 2005.
